KDE SC 4.4 Release Party – The aftermath :-)

Yesterday Phoenix’s KDE population gathered around the rainy tables at Matador Coffee Roasting Company for an afternoon of meeting and hanging out with some new people and some old friends around coffee and bagels and other goodies.

We had a fun few hours of discussing Epic Beard Man, Ubuntu one, Marketing SOPs, RMS and syncing PIM data between two machines. Though there were only six folks in attendance all together, it was a fun time and it was cool to meet up with some folks I’ve known for a while but rarely get to see, and even some new faces! Even some "youngsters" who were my age, which was pretty cool. I met my travel buddy for the Fedora Marketing FAD, Robyn at the party, and we gave the Fedora 13 talking points a quick look-over. We didn’t give her a hard enough itme though, she still left as a GNOME user. 😦 And Travis, Konversation slacker extraordinaire was there, too, all the way from (rainy) Tempe. I’m pretty sure he’s the only other KDE contributor in the Phoenix area. We’ve gotta expand, I guess πŸ™‚ I guess there are at least two future contributors in the picture below, just gotta get ’em involved :^)

  1. LOL did you just gimp yourself in that picture? What, no beer? You should come to the Netherlands for the next party and get drunk (& more) with us πŸ˜‰

I can also give you a few tips on marketing KDE to Gnomies, no guarantees though πŸ˜€

Oh and you sure need to start doing something about the size of that population, esp considering some of them are even of those small, underwear stealing variety πŸ˜€

(and no, I don’t mean you should start breeding, rather use more promotional means to get new contributors hehe)

  2. HAHA, mad GIMP skills πŸ™‚ In Chicago, I think I am the only one, so you are lucky to have 2. Now that KDE SC 4.4 was released, and we have our big Open Source conference in a month and a half, I will be able to push it much easier upon the masses. So I am hoping to change that 1 to many πŸ™‚
